He has primarily served adolescents and adults in individual, couples, family and group settings. Amanda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She attended University of Tennessee for her undergraduate degree and Murray State University and University of South Alabama for graduate degrees. Starr began her career as a labor and delivery nurse before returning to school. She is dually certified in family practice and psychiatry. Starr has worked in various settings including community mental health clinics and a state prison. She has experience treating children and adults and spent time managing geriatric patients in long-term care facilities. “I find mental health practice to be very rewarding for me and prefer it to family practice”. Kristin Hemstock is a Licensed Psychologist with a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Northern Arizona University. She has experience working with a range of mental health issues, including depression and anxiety, and utilizes a Cognitive Behavioral approach. Her interest areas include mood disorders, relationship issues, life transitions, and health and wellness. Kristin serves adult clients.

Christine is completing her Master’s degree from South Dakota State University in Mental Health and Marriage and Family Counseling and plans to pursue a license in Marriage and Family Therapy. She serves clients ages 6-12, adolescents, and adults. She provides individual, couples, and family outpatient therapy and also provides therapy in local school districts. She is not a licensed therapist yet…however, as an intern, she receives close supervision from a licensed clinical therapist in order to provide the best possible care for her clients. She assists clients in developing unique goals that are achievable with the aim to increase their quality of life. Her goal as a therapist intern is to create a safe, trusting environment in which to help clients explore their strengths, concerns, challenges, and difficulties.

Deb joined Sioux Trails in 2000 holding the positions of Client Accounts Manager and Business Manager. After graduating from college, Deb's desire to spread her wings, lead her to other interesting careers in the education and legal fields. In 2017, Deb returned to the mental health field and discovered her true passion for making a difference in the lives of others. In April 2019, Deb came back home to Sioux Trails. Deb's hobbies include dirt track racing with her family, riding motorcycle, reading, and enjoying a relaxing evening at home.

Joseph G. Manuel
Executive Director
Joe Manuel, MS joined Sioux Trails Mental Health Center in 2018 following employment with Beacon Health Options, a National Behavioral Health Managed Care company. Prior to Beacon, Joe served as the Chief Executive Officer for Northeastern Mental Health Center that provides behavioral health services in a 10 county area in Northeast SD. Joe has a wide range of experience in program management and business development with extensive leadership and operational experience as a manager of hospital-based inpatient and outpatient Behavioral Health and Substance Use treatment programs. He has developed community-based integrated behavioral health programming in crisis management, supportive housing, case management, adolescent, geriatric and residential services. In his free time Joe enjoys photography, cooking and reading.

Rachel Markgraf

Rachel Markgraf is an Outpatient Therapist and has her Master’s degree from Adler Graduate School in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Rachel is working toward her LPCC license. She works with individuals and groups, adolescents, young adults and adults in the specialty areas of depression, anxiety, trauma and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Rachel provides therapy two days each week for students in local school districts and is part of the intensive DBT program at Sioux Trails for adolescents. Rachel is very passionate about mental health and advocates for it both in and out of work.

Tori is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in addition to being one of our Clinical Directors. Tori has been with Sioux Trails for more than 9 years, gaining experience in the rehab field and training as a clinician before moving into the Director role. Tori has extensive training in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to adults and adolescents and has been doing so for the past six years in both group and individual settings. She has also received training for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and is working toward national certification at this time. Tori has experience working with children age 6 and up, adolescents, adults, couples and families and enjoys working with teens and their families through the struggles of adolescence. She has specialized training in fostering cooperation and managing misbehavior within families through the use of Adlerian Psychotherapy.

Angie provides School-Linked CTSS in the Le Sueur-Henderson schools, Nicollet Public School, St. Clair schools and Minnesota New Country School. She has provided ARMHS for 15 years to those diagnosed with SPMI and has worked extensively with those experiencing homelessness and/or substance abuse issues and embraces the recovery process.

She has experience working with all ages and abilities in a variety of mental health settings since 1995. She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and a variety of other mental health issues. She has a heart for trauma work and is certified in EMDR. Morgan Kohls is a Clinical trainee who provides therapeutic services with the School-linked program as well as in office setting. Services are provided to children in the schools of Le Sueur, St. Clair and Nicollet. Morgan also sees adults and children in the North Mankato office. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies with a minor in Psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Before joining Sioux Trails, Morgan worked as a Behavioral Therapist at the Minnesota Autism Center. Most of her experience has been working with children who have behavioral problems and she also has experience working on problem solving, distress tolerance, communication, anger management, social and organizational skills, grounding techniques for anxiety, redirection and extinction. Morgan continues her educational path towards a Master’s degree and training as Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, LICSW.
